Life was hard, but as long as they worked as a team, they would have
enough food and supplies that could be sold. Richard and Gertie was a
happy couple living on a farm, and they had a beautiful daughter named
Alice. But Gertie died, when giving birth to Alice’s younger sister,
Ellie. Alice had a very close relationship to her mother, and Alice
promised her that she would spend as much time as possible with her
sister. It was important to Alice that Ellie learned as much as possible
about her mother, even if she didn’t know her personally. Ellie got much
knowledge about Gertie, and she also experienced the kind love from her
sister, Alice.
During all these
coming years Alice and Ellie were inseparable, and they knew each other
so well that they almost knew the other one’s thoughts. The two sisters
helped their father running the farm. Alice was responsible for the
pigs, and Ellie was responsible for the Bed & Breakfast they had on the
farm, always making sure the guests had what they needed.
There was also
another person living on the farm – Grandpa Moses. He was very old, but
no one knew exactly how old he was. He often told stories about his past
to Ellie, and about the world war he participated in. Ellie was very
fascinated by Grandpa Moses, and she developed a passion for his stories
and adventures, which sometimes were very mysterious. She went around on
the farm, searching for something that could seem a bit mysterious.
Alice and Ellie had
a wonderful childhood together, although they didn’t have a mother.
Their father, Richard was glad he had two beautiful daughters, and even
though he missed Gertie too, he was happy the life after his wife’s
death had turned out so good.
The Bed & Breakfast
service at the farm went very well, and Ellie still continued to take
care of the guests. One morning Ellie was going to wake up one of the
guests, Mrs. McGinnity. But when she opened the door, she found the lady
in her bed – dead! Richard called the ambulance immediately, who arrived
just minutes afterwards. The doctors and the policemen wore masks and
talked about a virus that might have killed Mrs. McGinnity. Ellie sat in
the kitchen, terrified. She ran outside to find her grandfather, but
found him dead in the pool.
Both Alice and
Ellie bent over Grandpa Moses, and the tears flowed down their cheeks.
They just couldn’t believe he wasn’t there anymore. The doctors finally
confirmed that he also had died because of the virus.
Richard got into
shock after both his father and Mrs.McGinnity had died, and not long
after he went into a deep depression because the two deaths had brought
back too many memories of his wife, Gertie.
Alice and Ellie
tried to calm the other guests down, but as soon as they heard about the
two deaths, they leaved the farm immediately and went back to the city.
Richard and his two daughters understood that the other workers on the
farm wanted to go home to their families, so in the end there were only
Alice, Ellie and Richard left on the farm…
Some days later
Alice and Ellie realized that their father didn’t suffer from
depression, but that he was seriously ill. They tried to hold back the
panic, which struck them. Alice was physically and mentally stronger
than Ellie, so she was the one who took care of their father during the
process of the illness. Ellie worked on the farm, mostly out in the
fields amd kept the farm running. One day Ellie saw a vision of her
mother out in the fields and ran straight back to the farm. She just got
time saying good-bye to her father.
The two sisters
buried their father beside Gertie and Grandpa Moses. While standing
there beside the three graves, they promised each other that nomatter
what would happen, they would always be together. Because they were
sisters, they were friends, they would be inseparable, and they were
everything they had left.
